Vouchers

Can I pay without using a credit card - i.e. by cheque or by purchasing vouchers?

You can purchase units or subscriptions on this site using a credit or debit card via our secure server or using a service called ClickandBuy, whereby the payment is added to your telephone bill. (For further information please see our payment page.)

You can also purchase vouchers from libraries and archives that you can redeem on the website. (See our vouchers page for further information.)

Where can I purchase individual vouchers?

Many libraries and local archives are holding stocks of vouchers, as well as family history societies. View a full list of stockists.

Can I buy vouchers directly from findmypast.com?

Yes, but the minimum order is £100 if you buy direct from us. If you require a smaller number you should buy from a local reseller. View a full list of resellers.

What is the minimum number of vouchers I can order?

The minimum number of vouchers that you can order is 20.

How much do the vouchers cost?

Our basic voucher costs £5, and provides you with fifty units valid for 90 days from the date the voucher is redeemed.

Do the voucher prices include VAT?

Yes, the voucher prices do include VAT. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to differentiate between UK and non UK customers and, as such, the policy on V.A.T has now changed. This is stated in our terms and conditions:

"All prices quoted are inclusive of VAT and any applicable sales taxes. These will be detailed on your invoice. Our prices do not vary with the VAT status of the customer and we are not able to refund VAT to customers living outside the UK."

How can I pay for the vouchers? 

We accept payment with an order form by cheque, credit card or BACS payment.

How long are the voucher units valid for?

A voucher is valid for 90 days from the time the voucher is activated. You can use the vouchers over as many sessions as you wish within this period, and use them on any of the findmypast.com datasets, such as births, deaths and marriage indexes, overseas records and census records.

How do I order bulk purchases of vouchers?

We can send you an order form or you could download a voucher order form here.

Are there any discounts for bulk purchases of vouchers?

You will receive a 10% discount on face value orders from £100-£499; 15% on orders from £500-£999; and 20% on orders over £1000.

How much is postage and packing for the vouchers?

There is a charge of £4 within the UK, £5 for the rest of Europe and £8 for the rest of the world added to each order, regardless of value, to cover postage and packing.

How quickly will my voucher order arrive?

We aim to despatch most orders within seven days of receipt of order, though you should allow up to 28 days for delivery. If for any reason your order is going to take more than 28 days to fulfil we will contact you and give you the option of cancelling your order and obtaining a refund

How do I use the vouchers?

Please register as a new visitor, or sign-in if you are an existing member of findmypast.com. Once you have registered (or signed-in to your account) you will be presented with your account home page, welcoming you to the website. You'll notice that there is a link on this page titled 'activate voucher'. Please click on that link.

Once you have clicked on the 'activate voucher' link, enter the voucher code that is on the back of the voucher. To reveal the code, scratch off the silver coating and enter the confirmation code.

Once you have entered the voucher code, the 50 units that you have purchased by voucher will be added to your account, enabling you to view the family history records.

I haven't got an email address or a computer. Can I use still use your vouchers?

Once you have registered to become a member of findmypast.com, you can use your voucher at any computer with an internet connection - even in your local library. If you don't have an email address you can register with a username.

Can I get a refund on my voucher?

Vouchers are not refundable if the packaging or scratch panel are torn or damaged in any way. Refunds on vouchers in good condition may be available at the discretion of the stockist, so you will need to enquire at the place where you purchased the voucher. Findmypast.com does not provide refunds on individual vouchers. 

I am a stockist and I've bought too many vouchers. Can I get a refund?

We will refund any vouchers if their packaging and scratch panels are intact, as long as the total value is no less than £50. You will receive a refund based on the pro-rata value of your lowest discount order, less a handling charge of £10 per order.
